Most people who need glasses will have vision problems, but sometimes, those problems can be difficult to “spot,” especially if they seem unrelated (like chronic headaches). During your visit, your eye doctor will perform a comprehensive eye exam to evaluate how well your eyes function and to assess the anatomy of your eyes, looking for issues associated with vision problems. If a vision problem is detected, your eye doctor will use additional assessments to determine the ideal prescription to provide you with clear vision.
Eyeglasses can be beneficial in many people with problems like:
During your office visit, your eye doctor will evaluate your corneas, looking for issues like scars, unusual shape, or severe dry eye symptoms, all of which can interfere with contact lens wear or make lenses uncomfortable. If you’re interested in contact lenses, be sure to let the doctor know so they can perform the proper evaluations needed to assess and measure your corneas.
We offer in-house prescription glasses to make it much more convenient for you to get the glasses you need for your specific vision problems, without the prolonged delays that can occur when your glasses are made by a “third party” lab. Plus, because we craft glasses in our own state-of-the-art lab, if any issues arise during lens fabrication, our doctors are right there to answer any questions or address any other concerns so you can feel confident you’ll receive the best quality available. We can also make adjustments on the spot, and many glasses can be crafted in a few days or less. We also offer multiple lens options, including single vision, lined bifocals, lined trifocals, progressive addition lenses, and tinted or photochromic lenses. G. Dennis Leaks, OD, LTD, is the only optical practice in Pahrump to offer an in-house lab.
You should have your prescription checked each year to make sure it’s as effective as possible in providing you with clear, crisp vision. Routine checks are also important to prevent straining your eyes and making vision issues worse.
